Obituary

LOWELL- Arlene Redmond, 97 years old, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died Saturday morning, April 7th at her home.

She was born in Lowell, on March 31, 1910, a daughter of the late James J. and Etta G. (Reynolds) Redmond, and was a graduate of the Immaculate Conception Grammar School, Immaculate Conception High School, and D’Youville College, in Buffalo, NY.

Miss Redmond had been employed for many years by the Massachusetts Department of Public Welfare. During her years of employment she served on the board of directors for Community Teamwork, Family Services, Human Services Corporation, Model Cities Health and Welfare Committee, and the Salvation Army. She also served as a volunteer with the Whistler House and the Salvation Army Christmas Charities.

She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church and held membership in the holy Rosary Sodality of that parish, the Lowell College Club, the Catholic College Club, the Lowell Art Association, Saints Memorial Medical Center’s Ladies Auxiliary, and the Friends of the Pollard Memorial Library.

Surviving her are a nephew: Peter J. Redmond, of Poughkeepsie, NY; a niece: Karen Redmond-MacIntosh, of Rhode Island; also two grand nephews: Jeffrey Clare and Joshua Clare.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass to be offered on Monday, April 9th, at 1 PM at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, Lowell. There are no calling hours. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell.
