Obituary

TYNGSBORO: Arlene S. (Quill) Smith, age 90, a resident of Tyngsboro for 19 years, formerly of Andover, died Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at the D’Youville Senior Care Center in Lowell.
She was the wife of William Smith, who died in 1977.
Born in West Bridgewater on May 27, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah (Kelly) Quill.
Mrs. Smith was raised in Charlestown and graduated from Charlestown High School.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a clerk by the Internal Revenue Service in Andover, where she worked for 8 years.
Mrs. Smith resided in Somerville for 20 years and Andover for 25 years until moving to Tyngsboro in 1987.
According to her family she enjoyed attending family gatherings, vacationing at her cottage in Sandwich, reading and traveling to Ireland, Bermuda, Canada and Disney World in Florida.
She is survived by one daughter, Susan M. Delehanty and her husband Gary of Tyngsboro with whom she resided; two sons, William Smith, Jr. and his wife Gail of Tewksbury and Timothy D. Smith and his wife Stephanie of Andover; nine grandchildren, Kristine Kotelly and her husband James of Pepperell, Heather Bresette and her husband Donald of Tewksbury, Jennifer Gantous and her husband Gregg of Shirley, Timothy D. Smith Jr. of Andover, Jessica A. Caverly and her husband Jason of Methuen and Micaela Smith of Andover, Sarah, Robert P. and Christopher W. Delehanty all of Tyngsboro; six great grandchildren, Hannah, Emma and Benjamin Kotelly and Anna and Donald “DJ” Bresette and William Gantous; one sister, Mary Carr of Natick.
Mrs. Smith was the mother of the late Robert Smith and sister of the late Joseph Quill, Jr. and William Quill.
Calling hours Monday, April 9th, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral Tuesday, April 10th, at 9 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at West Parish Cemetery, Andover. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Greater Lowell V.N.A.-Hospice, P.O. Box 1965, Lowell, MA 01853 are requested.
