Obituary

Emory J. Davis, a 24 year resident of Hampton, New Hampshire and former longtime resident of Charlestown, died on Good Friday April 6, 2007 at Sunbridge of Exeter Nursing Home in Exeter, N.H. following a lengthy illness. He was 84 years old.

Emory was born in Boston on May 20, 1922. He grew up in Charlestown and attended elementary schools there. He graduated from Hebron Academy Prepratory School in Maine. Emory enlisted into the United States Coast Guard on October 9, 1942. He served during World War 2 and was discharged on October 31, 1945 with the rank of Specialist (Port Security) Third Class. He worked as a superintendant for the City of Boston Public Works Department for over 20 years. Following his retirement from the City of Boston, Emory worked for several construction companies in the Boston area. He worked on several projects such as Fanuel Hall Market Place and The Charlestown Co-Operative Bank. He was also very involved in the building the new Knights of Columbus hall in Charlestown. Emory was a member of Bunker Hill Council # 62, K of C and a parishoner at Our Lady of The Miraculous Medal Parish in Hampton, N.H.

Emory is the beloved husband of the late Kathryn T. (Rumley) Davis. He is the devoted father of Mark Davis and his wife Neusa Miranda of Hampton, N.H., Jean LaTerz of Brookline, William LaTerz of Easthampton, Mass., Michael LaTerz of Woburn and Margo LaTerz of Mt. Shasta, California. He is the loving grandfather of Ben Davis-Will, Kristine and David Johnson, Renata and Thiago Santos.

Emory's Funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at 9 a.m. from the Carr Funeral Home 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours for Emory will be held on Monday April 9, 2007 from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

In lieu of flowers, kindly make memorial donations in Emory's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, Tenn. 38101.
