Richard Kenneth Martin Sr., a fifty year Brockton resident, formerly of Canton, passed away after a lengthy illness on Monday April 2, 2007 in the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was seventy- eight years old. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary B. (Easley) Martin.
Born August 20, 1928 in Canton, Massachusetts he was the loving son of the late Leon J. Martin and Margaret E. (McGuire) Martin. He attended Canton Public Schools and was a graduate of Canton High School. After his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and attained the rank of PFC while on active duty in the Korean War Era.
Mr. Martin had his own T.V. repair business in the Brockton area for many years. He had also worked as an Electronics Engineer for Sylvania and GTE. Later he was a security officer for ADAP until his retirement in 1995.
Ken, as he was commonly known, cherished nature, loved to garden and was an avid fan of Notre Dame football and Boston Red Sox baseball.
He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Drew and her fiance’ Ron LaBonte of Chatham, Karen Martin of Brockton, his son Richard K. Martin Jr. and his wife Marla of Los Angeles, California, his brother Peter G. Martin and his wife Frances of Wilmington and his four grandchildren, Jennifer and Megan Drew and Tina and Max Martin. He was also a brother to the late Barbs, Joe, Edmund, Doyle and Ray Martin.
His funeral blessing will take place on Saturday April 7, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady Of Lourdes Church, 439 West Street, Brockton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. At his families request, visiting hours have been omitted and his interment will be private.
