Obituary

Louise Clough Bramhall, 58, of Gloucester, MA, passed from this life on Thursday, April 5, 2007, surrounded by her family in her home. She was a beautiful spirit with the face of an angel.
She was born June 25, 1948 in New York City and grew up in Bedford, NY. Graduate of The Bedford Rippwon-Cisqua School, she also graduated from the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School of Boston, MA. She and her husband Bill were married in 1971 and moved to the wonderful coastal area of Gloucester and have lived here ever since.
She is survived by her husband R. Billings Bramhall and their son, Nathan with his wife, Heidi and their children, Hank and Jesse of Burlington, VT. She also leaves her mother, Mrs. William S. Clough of Wilmot, NH; a sister, Conway T. Graft and her husband, David of Williamsburg, VA; a brother, William S. Clough III and his wife, Gail of New York, NY and a brother and sister in-law, Benjamin J. and Sharon M. Bramhall of Concord, MA, and many nieces and nephews from Maine, New York, Virginia and Cologne, Germany. Her father, William S. Clough, Jr. predeceased her.
She was an active board member of the Schooner Adventure; coordinating all volunteer programs. She was also involved with the former Cape Ann Food Cooperative, being a life long member, and this past summer she was an active participant with the series of the Gloucester Farmers Market. She was an advocate for the city of Gloucester and a proud member of our community.
She was a true guardian of the environment, an ardent recycler and environmental protector working with the Salem Sound 2000 and the Massachusetts Audubon Society. She loved music, especially jazz and even more so the music her son performed on his saxophone. The sea was also an active part of her life; sailing with her husband in Ipswich bay, swimming in Jones Creek, picnics and sunsets on Crane Beach to adventuresome kayak trips in the Johnstone Strait of British Columbia. She and her husband traveled to many parts of Europe and the United States. She loved meeting new people and experiencing their life styles and cultures.
She worked as an administrative assistant for many years with Abt Associates of Cambridge, MA followed by working within the Manchester Public Schools administration department and the Essex County Community Foundation.
May the beauty of her soul and the peace of her new journey surround her family always.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 5th in the Annisquam Village Church, 820 Washington St., Gloucester at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
