Obituary

On March 31, 1942, James Richard Miller graced the world with his presence, and answered the Lord’s call home on April 3, 2007. He was the fourth child born to the late Johnnie and Eva Mae Miller in Madison, Alabama. “Richard,” as he was fondly called by some and others called him by his nickname “Purney,” was free-hearted, loved to joke and have fun. He lived several years in Atlanta, Georgia and worked for Lakewood Auto Plant of General Motors Corporation. Then he transferred with his job to Delphi, a Division of General Motors in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where he resided until his health failed.

He leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memories, a daughter, Kennyette Miller of Atlanta, Georgia; seven sisters: Laura Miller of Huntsville, Alabama, Jeanette M. Freeman (Theodore) of Madison, Alabama, Lucinda M. London (Pastor T. J.) of Saginaw, Michigan, Paralee M. Ramsey (Leonard) of Pineapple, Alabama, Mattie P. Miller, Johnnie M. Stewart and Annie M. Rapiere (Ernie), all of Huntsville, Alabama; six brothers: John Miller (Creasie) of Cleveland, Ohio, George Miller of Courtland, Alabama, James E. Miller (Saundra) of Oberlin, Ohio, Glenn Miller of Huntsville, Alabama and Dewayne Miller (Denise) of Junction City, Kansas; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.


Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 7, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Nelms Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Theodis Acklin, Officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope Cemetery – Madison, Alabama.
