NEW BEDFORD — David H. Genereux, Sr., age 59 years, of New Bedford, died Tuesday April 3, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Charlene (Howland) Genereux.
Born in Acushnet, Ma. he was the son of the late Albert Genereux Sr. and Rita (Dessert) Genereux of New Bedford and lived in this community all of his life.
A licensed electrician he was employed for twenty years as maintenance supervisor at the former Olin Hunt Co. in East Providence and then as an electrician for United Liquors in Braintree.
A devoted husband and father, he was a member of the Noquochoke Masonic Lodge of Westport, had a flair for cooking, and enjoyed fine cuisine. Playing guitar was his passion and he enjoyed travelling and remembering his days driving his TR3 on local back roads. For many years he was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his son David H. Genereux Jr. of Westerly, R.I., his daughter Catherine Ann Marques of Mattapoisett, Ma., his brothers Albert Genereux and his wife Janice and Roger Genereux, all of New Bedford and was brother of the late Roland Genereux. Also survived by 8 grandchildren.
His funeral will take place on Saturday April 7, 2007, at 1 P.M. in the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., at the corner of Elm St., New Bedford with visitation Friday evening from 5-8 P.M.
