
Claire Helen Langevin Gadoury, age 73 years old, of Golden Rd., Mystic CT went home to Lords loving arms on Tuesday April 3rd surrounded by her family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was the widow of Richard J. Gadoury, who passed away Dec. 6, 2004 and the daughter of the late Rene and Durilda (Lusignan) Langevin.
Claire was born in Webster MA on March 6, 1934, She graduated from Bartlett High School, Webster MA in 1952. She married Richard on April 19, 1954 at Sacred Heart Church in Webster MA. Together Richard and Claire raised 6 children. Claire always said the greatest time in her life was when all her children were young and all at home. She loved being involved in their school, sports, dance and musical activities. She loved going to Boston Red Sox games and spending long days at the beach with her family.
Her greatest joy though came from having her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Being a "Memere" brought more love and happiness then she thought possible. They were the light of her life and she cherished each moment with them.
Claire most recently worked at the Mystic Seaport as the phone operator. She worked for the former Kaplan Travel in New London and The Bureau of Business Practice in Waterford.
Claire was an active member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Mystic. She was a Eucharistic Minister, Lecturer, and member of the Choir. She was a member of Daughters of Isabella St. Mary Frances Circle, holding many positions including Regent from 1988-1994.
Claire was deeply devoted to her family, faith and friends. She leaves many loved ones to cherish her memory. Her sons are Richard A. Gadoury and his wife Amy of Chicopee MA and Marc Gadoury of East Haddam, CT. Her daughters are: Laurie Roberts of St. Mary's GA, Patricia Gadoury and her partner Don Alexander of New Hartford CT, Michelle Bohmbach and her husband Brian of East Lyme CT and Janine McDonald of Uncasville CT.
Her grandchildren include Sara Gadoury, Amy Beth Gadoury McColley and her husband Jonathan, Richard A. Gadoury II and his wife Allison, Mathew and Lauren Roberts, Kristin Gadoury, Patrick, Dawn and Rebecca Alexander, Emily and Benjamin Bohmbach and Thomas and Nicole McDonald. Her great grandchildren are Sheannon McColley and Dahlia Alexander.
She also leaves her brothers Rene Langevin of Webster MA and Leonard Langevin of Dudley MA. Her sisters: June Gilbert of Warren NJ, Doris Caswell and her husband David of Burke VA, and Laurie Waddleton and her husband Scott of Rockport MA as well as many nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by her "other" family, all her dear friends at St. Patrick's Church, and her dearest friends Elizabeth Martinelli and Phyllis Sutton.
She was predeceased by her granddaughter Jennifer Roberts, and her sisters Pauline "Pat" Sterczala, Theresa Pizzetti, and Diane Nezuh.
Claire’s family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Monday from 5-8pm and on Tuesday 9:00-9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at St. Patrick Church, East Main Street, Mystic at 10am. Fr. Brian Romanowski will be celebrant and music wil be under the direction of the St. Patrick Church Choir and organist Elizabeth Limpkemann.
A procession will then follow to St. Patrick Cemetery, Old Mystic where Claire and Richard will be laid to rest in a spot overlooking the Mystic River.
