Obituary

Funeral services will be held on Thursday for Charles Hill, 75, of Stoneham & formerly of Malden. Mr. Hill entered into rest on April 2, 2007 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Born in Boston, the son of the late David & Molly (Pearlstein) Hill, he was raised in the Dorchester section of Boston, educated in the Boston Public Schools, & a graduate of Boston English High School. Mr. Hill enlisted in the United States Army on December 14, 1953 & served with the E Co. 32nd Signal Battalion during the Korean Conflict, & was a graduate of the Army Southern Signal School at Camp Gordon, GA. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal & the National Defense Service Medal. After being honorably discharged from active duty in 1955, Mr. Hill continued as a member of the U.S. Army Reserve assigned to the USAR Control Group at Fort Devens, MA until being relieved of duty in 1961. Upon returning from military service, he went to work for the Somerville Lumber Company until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra L. (Weiner) Hill of Stoneham; his son, Larry D. Hill of Stoneham; his brother, Barney Hill of Newton Centre; & his sister, Eva Finn of West Roxbury. He was also brother of the late Hyman Hill.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2007 at 12:00 Noon in Temple Emmanuel, Cary, Ave & Tudor St. in Chelsea. Rabbi Herman Blumberg of Temple Tifereth Israel of Malden will officiate. Burial will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. The Hill family will receive visitors at their residence in Stoneham on Thursday & Friday.
