Madeleine L. (Lindley) Furnans, 88, of Mattapoisett died April 2, 2007 unexpectedly at Tobey Hospital. She was the wife of the late Albert D. Furnans.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of the late Graham H. and Harriet (Hunt) Lindley, she lived in Mattapoisett most of her life.
Mrs. Furnans was a member of the Mattapoisett Congregational Church. She served her church as former secretary and past president of the Womens Guild.
She was an avid bridge player and a founding member of the Mattapoisett Bridge Club.
Her creative talents include ceramic and jewelry making, sewing, knitting, furniture refinishing, rug braiding and quilting. She enjoyed sailing, swimming and spending time with her family. For many years she also enjoyed bowling in a Mattapoisett league, as well as attending summer theater productions on the Cape.
Mrs. Furnans was a member and past president of the Mattapoisett Women Club.
Survivors include a son, Robert L. Furnans, and his wife Patricia, of Clearwater, FL; 3 daughters, Judith Pierce, and her husband James, of Woodstock, VT, Patricia Belcher, and her husband John, of Durham, NH and Jacqueline Collyer, and her husband Michael, of Mattapoisett; a sister, Mabel Haymes of Hot Springs, AR; 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 2 nieces.
She was the sister of the late Graham Lindley, Jr.
Her Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 7th at 2 PM in the Mattapoisett Congregational Church.
