TEWKSBURY: Mary (Lunetta) Marszalek, age 93, a resident of Tewksbury for the past 5 years, died Sunday, April 1, 2007 at the Tewksbury Hospital.
She was the widow of Walter M. Marszalek, who died in 1983.
Born in Oakmont, Pennsylvania on August 6, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Theresa (Renna) Lunetta.
Mrs. Marszalek was raised in Lowell and attended Lowell schools.
Prior to her retirement in 1979, she worked for 10 years, preparing meals for the patients and staff at the Tewksbury Hospital. Mrs. Marszalek was previously employed by the Carol Shoe Company formerly of Lowell.
She resided in Lowell and was a communicant of the former St. Peters Church, until moving to Tewksbury in 2002.
According to her family, she preferred not to obtain a driver’s license and enjoyed walking to her destinations. In addition, she liked visiting the beach with her family and maintaining her collection of more than 100 porcelain dolls.
During her retirement years, Mrs. Marszalek volunteered her time preparing meals for the elderly at the Salvation Army in Lowell.
She is survived by two daughters, Theresa N. “Chickie” Palmer of Tewksbury and Michele F. Spinney of Lowell; five grandchildren, James C. “Jay” Palmer, Eric T., Palmer, Stacey M. Moda and her husband John, Ryan C. and Katie M. Spinney; seven great grandchildren, Jamie C. Moda, Bryanna M. Farinha, Savannah L. Farinha, Jeremy P. Farinha, Taylor M. Spinney, Rylie A. Spinney and Ashley D. Spinney; also many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Marszalek was the sister of the late Josephine Zemetres Angelo, Biaggio and Samuel Lunetta and mother-in-law of the late James T. “Jay” Palmer.
Calling hours Wednesday, April 4th, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral Thursday, April 5th, at 9:30 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Liturgy Outside of Mass at 10:30 a.m., at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lowell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Tewksbury Hospital, c/o Patient’s Fund, 365 East St., Tewksbury, MA 01876 are requested.
