Obituary

Edward T. Coleman, 89, formerly of Danecroft Avenue in Greenville, an expediter for the former Narragansett Brewery in Cranston, retiring in 1981, died Monday at Hebert’s Nursing Home in Smithfield. He was the husband of the late Catherine I. (Gorman) Coleman.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Edward T. Coleman, Sr. & Mary I. “Mabel” (Colton) Coleman. He had been a resident of Greenville for 54 years.

Mr. Coleman was a member of Teamsters Local #251. He was a communicant of St. Philip Church, Greenville. He was an avid reader and Red Sox and Patriots fan and enjoyed playing the violin.

He is survived by his daughters, Mary E. Sweet and her husband, David of Foster and Kathryn Murray and her husband, Wade of Narragansett; three grandchildren, Meghan, Michaela and Kaitlyn; a sister, Rosemary Hart of Riverside; a brother in law, Reverend George F. Gorman of North Smithfield and nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:00am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visitation Wednesday 8-9 am. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville, RI 02828.
