WEBSTER – Otto E. Fersenheim, 87, of 18 Sibley Avenue, died Sunday, April 1, in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester. His wife of 55 years, Theresa P. (Gancy) Fersenheim, died in 1998.
He leaves a son, James O. Fersenheim, with whom he lived; three daughters, Sally, wife of Richard Donais, and Marian T., wife of John Wielock, all of Dudley, and Nancy J., wife of Richard Przybylek of Seabeck, WA; a brother, Herman J. Fersenheim, Jr. of Woodstock Valley, CT; six grandchildren, Andrew Donais, Benjamin and Nicholas Fersenheim, Samantha and Theresa Przybylek, and Catherine Wielock; 2 great granddaughters, Allison and Cadence Donais; nephews and nieces.
He was born in Boston and raised in Woodstock Valley, the son of Herman J. Fersenheim, Sr., and Blanche H. (Horner) Fersenheim. He attended Woodstock schools until his senior year. He moved to Webster in 1943 when he married.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and saw action in the Phillippines, Guam and Saipan.
Mr. Fersenheim was a steel coremaker at various foundries in Worcester County and northern Connecticut. He retired in 1987.
He was a member of Saint Louis Church. Since his teenage years, he grew an extensive annual flower, fruit and vegetable garden up until last year. He also enjoyed woodworking and excelled at restoring furniture and antiques.
The funeral, with military honors, will be held Wednesday, April 4, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake St. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. Calling hours are from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, April 3, in the funeral home.
