Gertrude M. (Letourneau) LaRose, age 83, died Sunday, March 11 at a local healthcare facility in Lowell following an extended illness. She was the wife of the late Leo LaRose who died in 1985.
She was born in Lowell on Feb. 28, 1924, the daughter of the late Joseph and Amanda (Tessier) Letourneau. Mrs. LaRose was a lifelong resident of Lowell and was a communicant of the former St. Jean Baptiste Parish and more recently of St. Rita Parish.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a housekeeper with Northwood Nursing Home for many years and had also worked with several other Nursing Homes in the Lowell area.
Mrs. LaRose was an avid bingo player and enjoyed crocheting, dancing, camping and family gatherings.
She is survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law, Jeannine and Edgar Montmarquet of Lowell, and Dianne and Richard Leigh of Lowell; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Donald LaRose of Lowell, and Robert and Michelle (Fontaine) LaRose of Pelham, NH; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Alice Tessier and Therese and Roland Fortin, all of Lowell; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Omer and Lorraine Letourneau of Nashua and Andrew and Pauline Letourneau of Tewksbury; 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of the late Jamie Lewis and Shannon LaRose and sister of the late Ernest, Felix, Roland, Adele Letourneau, Florence Turcotte and Claire Albert.
Relatives and friends may call at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell, on Wednesday morning, March 14th, from 8:30 until 10:30am followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11 o'clock at St. Rita Church. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery.
