Irene M. (Boisvert) Dastous, age 83, died Saturday, March 17, 2007, at her daughter's home in Lowell, surrounded by her family, after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Lucien C. Dastous who died in 1992.
She was born in Lowell on March 25, 1923, the daughter of the late Herve and Elizabeth (Bellemare) Boisvert. Mrs. Dastous was a longtime resident of Rosemont Street in the Pawtucketville section of Lowell and was a communicant of the former Ste. Jeanne d'Arc Parish for over 35 years.
Earlier in her life, she was employed as a stitcher with Jamper Manufacturing Co. and Pleasant Dress. She was also a chambermaid with the Town House in Lowell and before her retirement, she was a janitor with the University of Lowell.
Mrs. Dastous enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, camping and family gatherings.
She is survived by four daughters and a son-in-law, Pauline Boule of Lowell, Denise and Ronald Belley of Chelmsford, Diane Perry, with whom she resided in Lowell and her longtime companion, David Pritchard, Therese Beaulieu and her companion John Hutchinson, both of Raymond, NH; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert and Gladys Dastous of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Richard and Denise Dastous of Pfafftown, NC; a sister and brother-in-law, Therese and Andrew Lagasse of Dracut; two sisters-in-law, Doris Dastous of Dracut and Therese Dastous of Chester, NH; a brother-in-law, Maurice Dastous and his wife Carol, of Seabrook, NH; 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Raymond, Gerard, Emile, Maurice, Herve and Marianne Boisvert, mother-in-law of the late Roger Boule, and sister-in-law of the late Pauline Boisvert, Ethel Boisvert, Sr. Jeannette Dastous, Leo Dastous and Paul Dastous.
Relatives and friends may call at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Tuesday, March 20th from 3 to 8pm. Funeral Wednesday morning with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 o'clock at St. Michael's Church. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery.
