Irene V. (Desjardins) Dumais, age 89, died Monday morning, March 19, at a local healthcare facility in Lowell after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Lionel Joseph Dumais who died in 2002.
She was born in Springfield on Jan. 7, 1918, the daughter of the late Alfred and Alice Desjardins. Mrs. Dumais resided in Tewksbury for the past two years and was a formerly a lifelong resident of Lowell.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jeannine A. and David J. Sweeney of Wilmington; a son and daughter-in-law, Normand R. and Roselee Dumais of Lowell; two grandchildren, Stephen D. Dumais and his wife Judy of Milford, NH, and Jeffrey N. Dumais of Pepperell; a great grandson, Stephen Douglas Dumais, Jr.; also several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Rita Lacourse, Rene, Roland and Robert Desjardins.
Relatives and friends may call at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell, on Wed., March 21st, from 6 to 8pm. Funeral Thurs. morning with a Committal Service to be held at 11:30 at St. Joseph Cemetery Chapel. Interment to follow.
