JoAnn (Scheele) Gilbert - Of Dedham and Scituate, born in Boston August 7, 1925. JoAnn lived in Dedham since 1949 and summered her entire life on Peggoty Beach in Scituate. She died peacefully at the home of her daughter, Leah, on Friday March 30, surrounded by her loving family. Wife of the late Joseph E. Gilbert Jr., of Dedham. She is survived by her three children, Leah G. Lewis of Dedham, Christopher P. of Oxford and Sarah G. Knowlton of Dedham. She leaves many dear friends and a large extended family. Four grandchildren, a very special great grandchild, cousins, nieces and nephews. Also survived by her two brothers, George Scheele of Jeckyl Island, GA, Stephen Peter Scheele of Scituate and their wives. She was predeceased by her sister, Winifred Scheele Moran. She worked many years as a fund raiser and steadfast volunteer for United Cerebral Palsy and Multiple Sclerosis. JoAnn continued her volunteer work within the Dedham School System. Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., DEDHAM, Monday at 9:00 AM. Funeral mass in St. Mary’s Church, Dedham, at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Sunday 4-8 PM. Interment Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham.
