Eugene R. Halloran - 93, of Wellesley, died peacefully surrounded by his family on March 29, 2007 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born in Youngstown, OH to John and Theresa (MacAvoy) Halloran and is predeceased by four siblings, John, Richard and Robert Halloran and Maureen Shaughnessy.
Gene and his family moved from Cleveland, OH to Wellesley in 1950 where he served as Managing Partner at the accounting firm of Ernst & Young (formerly Ernst & Ernst) in Boston until his retirement in 1973. Thereafter he and his wife Phyllis enjoyed wonderful years of retirement in both Osterville and Atlantis, FL. They returned to Wellesley permanently in 1999. Former member of Brae Burn Country Club, The Algonquin Club, Oyster Harbors Club and Atlantis Golf Club. Gene was an avid golfer who was pleased that at the age of 79, he shot a 79.
Gene is survived by his most beloved family, wife Phyllis (Hawkins) Halloran of Wellesley, daughter Bambi J. Halloran of Wayland, son Timothy R. Halloran, daughter-in-law Colleen K. Halloran and grandchildren Maura E. Halloran and Christopher P. Halloran all of Dover.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 2, in St. Paul’s Church, Wellesley, at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Burial services are private. In lieu of flowers the family asks that gifts in Gene’s memory be sent to the Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2042 Beacon St., Newton, MA 02465 or to the charity of your choice.
