Obituary

Robert R. Freeman, 63, of Medway & Yarmouth, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Karen (O’Grady) Freeman for the past 43 years.

Born in New London, Connecticut on December 14, 1943, he was a son of the late Carl and Mary (Butler) Freeman. He was a resident of Medway since 1971 and formerly resided in Framingham. He was also a resident of Yarmouth for the past 8 years.

Mr. Freeman was a graduate of Framingham High School, Class of 1962. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and served for three years, receiving the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for Vietnam and the Good Conduct Medal Award.

Before his retirement, he was a union plumber since 1966 for the former Local 448 in Framingham and Local 12 in Boston.

Mr. Freeman was an avid hotrod and antique show car enthusiast. He loved caring for his home and yard and could often be seeing playing in his yard with his German Shepherds, Stryker and Farrah. Mr. Freeman was regular morning patron at the Medway Restaurant and loved to winter in Florida.

Besides his wife, he is survived by; a son, Joseph of Wethersfield, Conn., a daughter, Christine R. Freeman of Medway, two sisters, Shirley Stadalski of Framingham and Deborah McNaughton of South Yarmouth and a brother, Carl A. Freeman and his wife, Stephanie of Milford.

He is also survived by his sister-in-laws, Margaret Hamel of Framingham, Joyce Gaudet and her husband, Cole of Nahant and Noreen Beecher of Manteca, CA, two brother-in-laws, Thomas O’Grady and his wife, Karen of Franklin and Jay O’Grady and his wife, Beth of Sherborn, several nieces and nephews and a close family friend, Thomas Bird of Framingham.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Monday, April 2 at 9 a.m. from the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com), 3 Barber St. in Medway followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Church, 151 Village Street in Medway at 10 o’clock. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Medway.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 4 – 7 p.m.
