BEVERLY FARMS: Catherine “Katie” (Connery) Simpson, died Tuesday, March 27, 2007 in the Masconomet Healthcare Center in Topsfield.
Born in Beverly on January 30, 1927, she was the daughter of the late William P. and Ellen (McEvilly) Connery. A lifelong resident of Beverly Farms, she was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School and the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing.
Katie was a registered nurse for many years at the OB/GYN Associates in Beverly as well as for the Sisters of Notre Dame in Ipswich. She was a member of St. Margaret’s Church in Beverly Farms and was involved in many charitable organizations.
She is survived by Ellen M. Simpson of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Margaret T. Simpson of Lincoln, John W. and his wife, Tracy Simpson of Alexandria, VA, Joseph M. Simpson and his former wife, Jane Simpson both of Beverly, Michael D. Simpson of Ipswich and Peter T. Simpson of Beverly Farms, five grandchildren, Nicholas, Olivia, Kaitlyn, Walter and Bryce Simpson, her former husband, S. James Simpson, Jr. of Manchester-by-the-Sea and several nieces and nephews. Katie also leaves behind many kind and caring friends at Masconomet Healthcare Center.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 2nd at 10 A.M. at St. Margaret’s Church, 672 Hale Street, Beverly Farms. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Catherine’s memory to St. Patrick School, 131 Mt. Pleasant Ave., Roxbury, MA 02119 or to the Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923.
