Hugh Dorsey Lanier, 90, of Tifton, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 30, 2007, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Terrell Roberts will officiate with burial to follow in Lawrence Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 30, 2007, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. just prior to the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Lanier was born on November 7, 1916 in Pembroke and was the son of H. M. Lanier and Clara Lanier, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Fannie Mae Lanier, who died in 1998; one brother, Irvin Lanier; and three sisters, Sarah Dougherty, Hilden O'Steen and Clara Lanier. He was a retired mechanic and of the Baptist faith. He was also a United States Army veteran.
Mr. Lanier is survived by two sons, Hugh Dorsey "Dee" Lanier of Enigma and Ronald Jeremy Chastain of Tifton; and two daughters and one son-in-law, Pamela June Lanier of Enigma and Dorothea Sue and Tim Fortin of Jacksonville, Florida.
