Obituary

John J. "Joe" Deasy 88 of Lyman St., Westborough died Sunday March 25, 2007 at UMASS Memorial Healthcare Hospital in Worcester. He was the husband of the late Dorothy J. (Underhill) Deasy, who died in 2004.
Born in Framingham, September 18, 1918 a son of the late John J. and Bridget (Moran) Deasy, he lived in Westborough for the 8 years, and had formerly lived in Barnstable and Framingham.
He was raised and educated in Framingham, and was a 1936 graduate of Framingham High School. He attended Northeastern University and was a graduate of Perdue University where he received a degree in chemical engineering. He worked as a chemical engineer for the General Electric Company for more than 33 years, until his retirement in 1981.
During WW11 he served in the US Army Air Corps. He attained the rank of captain, and was placed on extended active duty and deployed to the South Pacific Theater as a pilot and commander of a B-24 Libererator in the 7th Air Force, 11th Bombardment Group, 42nd Squadron.
He was awarded the Air Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, The Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, the Bronze Star, and the WW11 Victory Medal.
He was a member of the American Chemical Society, The Phi Beta Kappa Society, the Tau Beta Pi Society, and was a communicant of St. Luke the Evangelist Church in Westborough.
His passion in life was his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by 2 sons, J. Michael Deasy and his wife Betsy of Milford, New Hampshire, Jim Deasy of Watertown, a daughter Jane E. Bugg and her husband Peter of Franklin, a brother William “Bill” Deasy of Ormond Beach, Fl. Formerly of Framingham, a sister Mary Murphy of Framingham and 4 grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral with military honors Thursday March 29, 2007 at 9AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. FRANKLIN with a funeral Mass in St. Luke the Evangelist Church W. Main St. Westborough at 10AM. Interment will follow in the family lot in St. Stephen Cemetery in Framingham.
Calling hours are Wednesday March 28, 2007 from 4-8PM at the funeral home.
