Salem: Rosario J. Lamarre, age 76 of Salem, died Monday morning, March 26, 2007, in his home, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Grace M. (Black) Lamarre, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Joseph and Rosa (Brochu) Lamarre. 'Rosie' enlisted in the Navy and following his tour of duty he returned to Salem and worked for General Electric in Lynn. He left GE to work as a stone mason in the construction industry for Local #12. A talented mason, he eventually left the construction industry and worked as sexton for St. James Parish in Salem until 1990 when failing health forced his retirement. 'Rosie' was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of Ste. Anne Parish and the Holy Name Society.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 4 daughters: Doris I. Murphy & her husband Neal of Salem, Cathy A. Lovely, Retired, US Army of Moon, PA, Linda M. Snowden of Danvers, Nancy R. Sarafian & her husband Armen of Burnsville, MN, a son William M. Lamarre & his wife Laurie of Beverly, 4 brothers: Robert Lamarre of New Hampshire, Rene of Salem, Lucien of Haverhill and Laurent of Danvers, 7 sisters: Rita Cappuccio of N. Andover, Lauretta O’Brien, Theresa Grenier, Bernadette Anketell all of Salem, Martha Diebner of New Hampshire, Julie Marks of Danvers & Marie Darisse of Middleton. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother Clarence Lamarre and sister Jeannette Searles.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral on Thursday at 9 am from the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., [Rt. 114 / 1-A] followed by his funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, Salem at 10 am. Visiting hours: Wednesday 4 to 8 pm. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Ste.
