DRACUT - William A. "Bill" Garon, 70, a resident of Dracut, and former resident of York, ME, died Monday March 26th at the home of his brother and sister-in-law Ron and Roberta Garon after a battle with lung cancer.
He was born in Lawrence on October 29, and was a son of the late William F. and Clipher (Gibeau) Garon. He graduated from Lawrence High School and then enlisted in the United States Air Force.
Mr. Garon served for twenty years in the Air Force, he was stationed Korea, Vietnam, the Philippines, Turkey, as well as Washington D.C., Alaska, New Hampshire, Maine, and Texas.
After his retirement from the Air Force, he worked as a data process manager and internal auditor, first at the Portsmouth Hospital in Portsmouth, NH, and then at York Hospital in York, ME.
He is survived by three children William T. and his wife Julie of Upton, MA, Calice M. Legate and her husband Paul of Galveston, TX, and Patrick I. Garon of Malden, MA; three brothers Ronald Garon and his wife Roberta of Dracut, MA with whom he resided; George Garon and his wife Lorraine of Methuen, MA, Michael Garon and his wife Cheryl of Methuen, MA; two sisters Eileen Pellegrino and her husband Tim of Derry, NH, and Claire Kohnken of Barefoot Bay, FL; a sister-in-law Cathy of Florida; two grandchildren Paige and Stephen Legate of Galveston, TX; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Russell Garon.
Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Wednesday from 4 until 8pm. His funeral will be held from the funeral home on Thursday at 9am followed by his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10am in St. Mary Magdalen Church, Dracut. Spring burial in Oakland Cemetery, Dracut.
