Anna Thompson (Burnap) Dubé, 50, of Marshfield died Saturday morning, March 23 at Jordan Hospital in Plymouth after a seven month struggle with a rare cancer. True to her nature, Anna lived with courage and grace up until the very end.
Wife of David Carlyle Dubé, she leaves her children Jacquelyn Parry Clancy and Amy Corfield Dubé and Kisha, the wonder dog. Anna is survived by her sisters Karen Pederson Gallup (Norfolk, MA), Joan Thompson Schneider (Fort Collins, CO) and Parry Wellington Burnap (Denver, CO). Her brother, Thomas Kelvin Burnap, Jr. died from cancer in Denver in 2004.
Born in Newton, Massachusetts on March 8, 1957, to Arlene “Petie” Pederson Burnap and Dr. Thomas Kelvin Burnap, Anna spent most of her life in Marshfield. She graduated from Marshfield High School with the class of 1974, received her associate’s degree from Colby Sawyer College in 1976, and in 1980 she received her degree in Social Work from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. Ready to settle down and raise a family, she returned home to Marshfield in 1983.
Anna was a devoted mother who worked part-time. Her contagious smile, personal care and wise counsel warmed many hearts as she carried out her social work through bartending and waitressing at several South Shore restaurants over the years including PJ’s Countryhouse, the Bridgeway, the Windsor House, Laredo’s, Rafferty’s, and most recently for eight years at Persy’s Place. Anna managed the pro shop at Rockland Country Club and did community service volunteer work when she was able.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 30 at 10:30 AM at First Parish Church, 24 River Street, P.O. Box 152, Norwell, MA 02061. The service will be hosted in partnership with Trinity Episcopal Church of Marshfield Hill. A collation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that friends and families make contributions in Anna’s name to the Jordan Hospital Club Cancer Center, 275 Sandwich Street, Plymouth, MA 02360.
