Obituary

Bessie Mae Horton was born in Greenbrier, Alabama March 29, 1916 to Clara and Andrew Jackson. She was one of seventeen brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Horton’s passion for cooking led her to the Huntsville City School System, where she remained until her retirement.

Mother Horton accepted Christ at the early age of thirteen and became a member of Owens Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, until she departed this life. Mother Horton was an active member of the Adult Choir, a faithful member of the Missionary Society and acquired her tenure on the Mothers’ Board, where she served faithfully until failing health no longer permitted her to serve.

Her loving husband, twelve brothers, three sisters, and two sons, James and Joe Earl Pickett preceded her in death. She departed this life on March 20, 2007.

She leaves to cherish her memories one brother, Charles Jackson (Lucille) of Lubbock, Texas; grandchildren: Cynthia Pickett of Birmingham, Alabama, Timothy (April) Pickett, Darlene (Martin) Patton, and Nikki Pickett, all of Huntsville, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
