Freda M. (Archibald) Pratt, 83, died Friday March 23rd in the West Acres Nursing Facility in Brockton after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Robert C. Pratt.
Born in Whitman, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Blanche (Jackson) Archibald.
Freda was a life long resident of Whitman, and a graduate of Whitman High School, Class of 1941.
She was a communicant of the First Baptist Church of Whitman a member of the Whitman Mother’s Club and was active on the board of the Whitman Visiting Nurse.
After raising her family she attained her real estate license and worked for Jack Conway Real Estate managing the Whitman office for 25 years, and also helped to teach in the Jack Conway Real Estate School in Hanover.
She loved to travel and was able to take her dream trip to Alaska, she also enjoyed balloon riding and jet skiing.
She was the mother of Robert Pratt and his wife Ina, Ruth Nelson and her husband Ray, all of Whitman, Joseph Pratt, James Pratt and his wife Patricia all of Florida, Richard Pratt and his wife Geraldine of Alabama and Stephen Pratt of Wareham; grandmother of 17 and great grandmother of 9. She was the aunt of Donald and Dick Avery. She was the sister of the late Gladys Avery, and Marjorie Prouty and grandmother of the late Lisa May Pratt.
Her funeral services will be held Wednesday March 28th at 11:00 AM. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours Tuesday March 27th 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
