Danny E. Scarborough, 58, of Tifton died Friday, March 23, 2007, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2007, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Larry Cone and Rev. Brantley "Bunky" Seymour will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Stan Carr, Paul Mills, Gerald Copeland, Troy Williams, Rayford Barnes and J. D. Griffin. Employees of the United States Post Office will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 26, 2007, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Scarborough was born on February 5, 1949 in Tift County and was the son of O. D. Scarborough and Catherine Scarborough, both deceased. He was a mail carrier with the United States Postal Service and a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, where he also served as a deacon. He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
Mr. Scarborough is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Walker Scarborough of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Beverly Scarborough of Tifton; three daughters and one son-in-law, Kim Scarborough of Tifton, Karen and Chris Lumpkin of Tifton and Dana Scarborough of Tifton; two brothers, Larry Scarborough of Tifton and Rick Scarborough of McCalla, Alabama; one sister, Della Barrett of Ocilla; and five grandchildren, Kaylee Lumpkin, Connor Lumpkin, Camden Lumpkin, Brittany Courtoy and Amber Courtoy.
