Obituary

Edward J. Resnick, 82, a resident of Revere for over 40 years, died on March 21, 2007 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after a long illness.

Born in the West End of Boston on September 4, 1924, he was the son of the late Henry & Annie (Weinstein) Resnick. Edward was raised in the West End, attended the Boston Public Schools, & graduated from Boston English High School. He enlisted in the United States Army on May 25, 1943 & began active duty on June 8, 1943 in Boston. He served with the Co. A 762nd Tank Battalion & earned the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Campaign Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, & the Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged with the rank of TEC 5 on September 30, 1946 at Ft. Devens, MA.

Upon returning from military service, Edward joined the Teamsters Union - Local 259 & worked in the transportation industry providing service to numerous newspaper companies including the Record American, Boston Post, Boston Herald, & the Boston Globe. He retired from the Globe in 1987. He was a former member of the West End House. Edward was an avid card player who loved cribbage, he was a worldwide traveler, a ballroom dancer, & sports enthusiast.
He will be lovingly remembered as a very caring & generous man who always cared for his family. Those whose lives have been touched by Edward are truly saddened at his passing.

Husband of the late Lorraine (Wolk) Resnick, Edward is survived by his daughter, Lenore Resnick of Revere; his son & daughter-in-law, Eliot & Jennifer Resnick of Revere; 2 brothers, Donald & Jack Resnick of Revere; 4 grandchildren, Sarah, Catherine, Lauren, & Nicholas; & several loving nieces, nephews, & cousins.

Edward's funeral service will be held in the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave. (Cary Sq) CHELSEA on Friday, March 23, 2007 at 1:30 PM. Rabbi Frank Waldorf, rabbi emeritus of Temple Sinai, Brookline will officiate. Burial will follow in the Ohavi Sedeck Cemetery, Grove St. West Roxbury. Memorial observance will be held at Edward's late residence on Sunday from 2-6 PM & on Monday dfrom 7-9 PM.
