DARTMOUTH -- John Henry Barrows, a native of South Dartmouth, MA, passed away on March 17, 2007, age 81. Oldest son of Allan and Helen (Adams) Barrows, brother of Robert A. Barrows, Charlotte, NC, and brother of deceased sister Anne. He attended Tabor Academy and Lowell Textile School. A WWII Navy veteran serving in the Pacific Theater on the U.S.S. Lexington.
Survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Mary (Molly) Marshall Barrows; 5 sons, Allan Edwards, CO, James Ipswich, MA, Samuel, S., Dartmouth, MA, Peter, Lawrenceville, GA, John, Jr., W. Hartford, CT. He will be dearly missed by all, including his 4 daughters-in-law; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2007, at 1 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, 422 County St., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's memory to the Lloyd Center for the Environment, 430 Potomska Rd., Dartmouth, MA 02748 or www.lloydcenter.org.
