Ovila H. Desmarais, 84, of Manchester, died March 19, 2007, at Harborside Healthcare-Northwood in Bedford, after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Manchester, August 23, 1922, and was the son of Cyprien and Regina (Belanger) Desmarais. He lived in California for 34 years and later lived in Tuscon, AZ for several years before moving back to NH.
He served in the US Army during World War II. He was a professional prizefighter in New England in the late 1940’s. He worked as a sheet metal mechanic for Burrough, Inc. for many years.
He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy (Morrissette) Desmarais, who died in 1992.
Family members include three daughters, Lorraine Ewing, Elaine Groeneveld, both of Hawaii, and Germaine Desmarais of California; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Cyprienne Gosselin of Manchester; many nieces and nephews.
A committal service was held on Friday, March 23, 2007 at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery
