Obituary

Paul N. Frangis, 81, of Manchester died March 17, 2007 at Elliot Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Manchester on March 28, 1925, he was the son of Nicholas and Artemis (Chakas) Frangis.

During World War II he served in the US Army and had volunteered for the Officers Strategic Services (OSS) and the Special Reconnaissance Battalion, also known as the Greek American Operational Group.

Mr. Frangis worked for NYNEX for 30 years. He was a member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church and of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9347.

The family includes a brother, William G. Frangis of Kingston, NY and several nieces and nephews.

IN HIS LIFE: His name is on the Soldier Memorial Monument in Goudi, Athens, Greece which commemorates those individuals who volunteered for hazardous duty in the OSS and fought heroically in Greece. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary and a brother, Frank. The family also includes a sister in law, Rebecca Frangis of Phippsburg, ME.

The funeral was held Thursday March 22, 2007 at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 111 Island Pond Rd., Manchester. Committal prayers followed at Pine Grove Cemetery, Brown Ave., Manchester.
