Obituary

Nannie G. (Boardley) Lammers, 96, of New Bedford died Monday March 19, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Alexander B. Lammers.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late William and Nannie (White) Boardley, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.

Mrs. Lammers was an active member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, where she served as a Deaconess, and was a member of the Steward Board, the Women's Missionary Society, and the Church choir.

She was a member of the Mashpee Wampanoag Indian Tribal Council. She was the spiritual affairs chairwoman of Church Women United.

Survivors include seven children, Patricia Victor, Pearl Wixon, Edith Lammers, Harvey Lammers, and James Lammers, all of New Bedford, David Lammers of Brookline and Earl Lammers of Florida; two sisters, Rachel Blake of New Bedford and Gertrude Cuvilje of New York; 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Ida Arnold, Ruth Walton, and Dorothy Gaskins.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10 AM in the Bethel A.M.E. Church. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Bethel A.M.E.
