HELEN E. (JAMES) GALLOP, age 90, of Cohasset, formerly of Hingham, died on Sunday, March 18th at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. Mrs. Gallop was born in Hingham and was a 1934 graduate of Hingham High School and The School of Practical Art in Boston. For many years she was associated with several Boston firms as a commercial artist. Working primarily in watercolors, she participated in many art shows over the years and was well known in the area for her work. Mrs. Gallop was affiliated with the Cohasset Art Center in Cohasset and was a world traveler. She also was an active member of the Church of St. John the Evangelist in Hingham and St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Scituate.
She was the wife of the late Rev. John Morton Gallop and the late Edwin Franklin Arnold. She was the mother of Elizabeth Loughran of Ft. Myers, FL, David Arnold of Hingham and Patricia Delano of Naperville, IL. Sister of Everett James of Satellite Beach, FL, Mary McLellan of Hingham and the late Richard James. Also survived by 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be conducted on Thursday, March 22nd at 11 AM at The Church of St. John the Evangelist, 172 Main St., Hingham, MA 02043.
Friends may visit at the church on Wednesday from 3-6 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to The Church of St. John the Evangelist.
The interment is to be private.
