Obituary

WORCESTER-James C. Witt, 67, of 6 Winchester Avenue died Thursday, October 31st after being stricken ill at home. He leaves his wife of 29 years, Claire B. (Proulx) Witt; 2 sons, William J. O’Neill of Leicester and Mark W. O’Neill of Worcester; a daughter, Michelle L. Wickson of Leicester; a brother, John Witt of Auburn; 6 grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. A brother, Jerry Witt and a sister, Jacqueline L. Witt predeceased him.

He was born in Worcester the son of Raymond F. and Gertrude O. (Cramer) Witt and lived in Auburn before relocating to Worcester. He graduated from Auburn High School. He served as a medic in the National Guard. Mr. Witt was a self-employed carpenter for many years. He was a member of the Central Mass RC Modelers Club and a senior member of the Southern New Hampshire Flying Eagles. He loved aviation and the building and flying of model airplanes. He was a history enthusiast.

The funeral will be Saturday, November 2nd in O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday, November 1st in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Karen L. Hazelwood Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o South High School, 170 Apricot Street, Worcester, Massachusetts, 01603.
