Worcester – Lawrence E. Helias, 76, of Worcester died on Saturday March 17, surrounded by his loving family in the Umass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus after an illness.
Mr. Helias is predeceased by his wife of 56 years Shirley M. (Bedard) Helias who died in October 2006. He is survived by a daughter Sharon and her husband Jeffrey Baribeault of Worcester; a grandson Jason Helias of Worcester; a brother in law Roland Bedard of Worcester and several nephews and nieces. Mr. Helias was born in St. Albans, VT son of John and Sarah (Gibeau) Helias and is predeceased by two brothers Francis and Edward Helias and five sisters Antoinnette Gregoire, Blanche Helias, Flora Prunier, Jeannette Bohigian and Gloria Wilson.
He served in the United States Navy and worked as an assistant foreman in the stockroom of Heald Machine and Cincinnati Milacron for over 40 years.
Mr. Helias was a member of St. Joan of Arc and enjoyed both bowling and golfing.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday March 21, from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with a mass at 10 AM in St. Joan of Arc Church 570 Lincoln St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday March 20, from 5 to 7 PM in the funeral home.
