Elinor F. "Midge" (Gilson) Mehigan, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on Thursday March 16, 2007 following a lengthy illness. She was 68 years old.
Midge was born in Woburn on July 22, 1938. She grew up in Charlestown, where she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1956. Midge worked for over 20 years for the City of Boston Food Service Department and was the cook at the Kent Elementary School in Charlestown. More importantly, she dedicated her life to taking care of her husband and 6 children.
Elinor is the beloved wife of Daniel J. Mehigan. She is the devoted mother of Kelly Ann Roche of Rockland, Daniel J. Mehigan of Wilmington, Maureen Gillis of Wilmington, Gina Hillner of Dracut, Kevin Mehigan of Charlestown and Matthew Mehigan of Wakefield. She is the loving grandmother of 10 grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of Patricia Manson, Marylou Leary, Albert Gilson all of Wilmington, Judith Gavin of Brighton, Virginia Goggin of Charlestown, Linda Brassil of Wilmington and the late Herbert and Robert Gilson. She is also survived by many nieces & nephews.
Elinor's Funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at 9 a.m. from the Carr Funeral Home 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown, followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours for Elinor will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will take place at the Veterans Administration National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:15 p.m.
