Mystic - Lorraine Harrington, 59, of 16 Maxson St., Mystic, died Thursday, March 15, 2007, at Rhode Island Hospital with her loving family by her side.
She was born on March 10, 1948, in New London, the daughter of Henry and Cecelia Kitlenski. She graduated from Waterford High School, class of 1966 and was a Merit Scholar at Boston University.

She married Tim Harrington, a local contractor, on Dec. 28, 1968, in Massachusetts.

She is survived by Mr. Harrington; two daughters, Jamie and Rachel Harrington; her mother, Cecelia; and brother, James Kitlenski.

Her father predeceased her in 2004.

She was previously an employee of the Sheffield Tube Company and the former Mystic Color Lab, and most recently worked at Embry & Neusner in Groton.

A matriarch in the best sense of the word, she was a devoted wife and loving mother to both her daughters, Jamie, a graduate from the University of Connecticut and Rachel, a graduate of Yale University, and her two cats, Tigger and Winnie.

A longtime Patriots and Red Sox fan, she also enjoyed going to beaches, attending concerts, watching movies, shopping, and traveling. She looked forward to vacationing at her parents' winter home in Florida each year as well.

A true fighter, she survived breast cancer but was unable to beat ovarian cancer despite remaining strong and brave through the very end.
