GLOUCESTER: Lillian M. (Blatchford) Baker, 88, formerly of Central Grammar Apartments, died Thursday morning, March 1, 2007, in the Addison Gilbert Hospital. She was the wife of the late Chester A. Baker, who died in April 1973.
Born in Gloucester on March 9, 1918, she was the daughter of the late William R. and Ethel M. (Lufkin) Blatchford. She was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and had attended Gloucester public schools.
Mrs. Baker was employed as a cook and waitress for over twenty years at the Seacrest Manor in Rockport. She enjoyed bingo and was an avid card player. She was also a longtime member of the Trinity Congregational Church. A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Arnold B. and Maryann Baker of Beverly, two daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly A. and Gary Finley of Salem, Ellen L. and Paul Caron of Groveland, four granddaughters, Toni Jensen, Tammee Taylor, Michele Kennedy and Laura Tarantino, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by two brothers, E. Newell Blatchford and Gilman Blatchford.
Her funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon in the Beechbrook Cemetery, West Gloucester at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Trinity Congregational Church “Memorial Fund”, 70 Middle St., Gloucester, MA 01930 or the American Heart Assoc., 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-4688. Arrangements are under the direction of the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester.
