Henry “Rick” Wojdylak, 88 of Medway, died Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at the Metro West Medical Center in Framingham after a brief illness. He was the husband of Margaret (Powers) Wojdylak who died in 1997.
Born in Worcester on May 14, 1918, he was a son of the late Boleslaw and Alexsandra (Truhel) Wojdylak. A resident of Medway for the past 80 years, Mr. Wojdylak was a standout athlete at Medway High School and played semi-pro football with the Medway/Franklin Combines.
With his brother Ed, he owned and operated Gormley’s Café in Medway for over 20 years. After closing the restaurant, he worked as a custodian at Medway High School for 10 years.
He is survived by his children, Jim Wojdylak and his wife, Mary of Goffstown, NH, Janice O’Connell and her husband, Kevin of Medway and Susan Cole and her husband, Scott of Taunton.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cathy Peters of Martha’s Vineyard, Roberta O’Connell of Uxbridge, Victoria Sullivan of Lawrence, Jim Jr. of Dudley, Joshua O’Connell of Medway and Jason and Hannah Cole, both of Taunton, his great-grandchildren, Shannon and Jarek Peters, both of Martha’s Vineyard, Ashton and Miranda Wojdylak, both of Dudley and Buddy and Seamus Sullivan, both of Lawrence and one great-great-granddaughter, Arianna Bartok of Martha’s Vineyard.
He was brother of the late Edward and Joseph Wojdylak, Alice Szymanski and Jenny Duhamel.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Saturday, March 17 at 10 a.m. from the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Church, 151 Village St. in Medway at 11 o’clock. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Medway.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 - 8 p.m.
