Marion L. Greene, 74, of Derry, N.H., died March 12, 2007 in Jacksonville, Fla., while on vacation, due to complications from a long illness.
Marion was born and raised in Lexington, Mass., the daughter of the late John A. and Hazel L. Sellars, who owned and operated the Sellars Dairy in Lexington for many years.
She was a resident of Derry for 46 years.
Marion retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1998 after 25 years of service. For many years, she was the Postmaster at the East Derry, N.H. Post Office. She joined the National League of Postmasters in 1984. Active in the East Derry Improvement Society, she served as treasurer and vice president, and was an ever-ready helper on workdays around the facility. She will be remembered for her love and devotion to friends and family, and her love of figure skating.
Survivors include a daughter, Diane Lachance and husband Paul of Contoocook N.H.; two sons, Mark Greene and wife Joni of Manchester, N.H., and Thomas Greene and wife Mary of Alexandria, Va.; grandchildren Stephanie Greene of Jacksonville, Fla., Heather Greene of Manchester N.H. and Tim Lachance of Contoocook, N.H.; and brother, John H. Sellars of Lexington, Mass. She was predeceased by her brother Oliver Sellars.
Visiting hours were from 2 – 4:00 pm and 7 - 9:00 pm on Friday, March 16th in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the funeral home. The burial followed in the Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry.
