Obituary

CHELSEA: Stephen Mahalaris, 54, resident of the Soldiers Home in Chelsea, died unexpectedly Friday, February 23, 2007 in the Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett.
Born in Salem on March 7, 1952, he was the son of the late Charles and Helen (Pappanicholas) Mahalaris. He was a graduate of Peabody High School class of 1970. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on December 7, 1970 and served in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on September 4, 1973. Stephen had resided in the Peabody and Salem area most of his life.
He is survived by two sisters, Diane and her husband, Gary Hollingsworth of Anniston, AL and Kathy and her husband, James Powers of Monroe, NY, four brothers, Leo Mahalaris and his fiancée, Susan Bryant of Southbridge, Perry Mahalaris of Methuen, John and his wife, Phyllis Mahalaris of Seabrook, NH and Nick and his wife, Sheri Lahris of Orlando, FL and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
His funeral services will be held on Thursday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly at 11 A.M. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday evening from 5 – 8 P.M. and Thursday prior to the service from 10 – 11 A.M. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the charity of one’s choice. Interment will be held in the Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem.
