Germaine Hansen,88,of Waterman Avenue in Smithfield a cook for the State School Lunch Program before retiring in 1984, died Monday, March 12, 2007, at Hebert’s Nursing Home. She was the wife of Nils A. Hansen. They had been married for nearly 68 years.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Emerintine (Arpin) Brisson. She had been a resident of Smithfield for 60 years.
She enjoyed reading, crocheting and playing cards. She was active at the Salvatore Mancini Senior Center where she was a member of the Hi Lo Jack Club.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, August R. Hansen and his wife Doris of Denver, Hans E. Hansen and his wife, Mary-Jane of Foster; a daughter, Faith A. Maddocks and her husband, Gary of Smithfield, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a brother, Leo Brisson of North Carolina. She was predeceased by 5 siblings. Her funeral service will be held Friday at 10:00 am in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery.
