David S. McCarthy 86, died Saturday March 10th in the Brockton Hospital, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Dorothy (Terris) McCarthy.
Born in Norwood, he was the son of the late Fred W. and Marion A (Haskins) McCarthy.
He was a graduate of East Bridgewater High School. He was a resident of Whitman, in his early years, David worked as a mechanic for the Old Colony Railroad before, opening his own cab company in Whitman called McCarthy’s Taxi Cab, and then moved back to East Bridgewater.
David, a veteran of the United States Navy during WWII where he was an Aviation Machinist’s Mate, third class, a member of the Whitman VFW post # 697, and the Northville Cemetery Assoc. in East Bridgewater.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy (Terris) McCarthy of East Bridgewater ,his daughter Patricia A. Knight of Leesburg, FL., his step daughter Sarah Reardon of East Bridgewater; a step-son George Studenski of Malaysia, his sister Elizabeth McCarthy of S .Yarmouth;10 grandchildren,20 great- grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
His Funeral will be held Thursday March 15th at 11:00 A.M. ,in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman, burial will follow in the Northville Cemetery, East Bridgewater, MA. .Visiting hours Wednesday March 14th 3-7 P.
