My brother Bob and I regret to announce the passing of our Mother, Kerstin Frideborg (Andersson) MacNeill on Monday, February 12th, 2007 at the Queen Anne Nursing Home in Hingham. She was born in Sweden on January 12th, 1913 and emigrated to the United States in 1923 with her mother Alma and sister Elsa. Her father, Johan, had arrived in the United States in 1922.
She attended public schools in North Dartmouth, MA before moving to Medford, MA.
Kerstin later attended a secretarial school and worked in Boston.
She met Millard E. MacNeill of Cohasset and married on July 2nd, 1938 who predeceased her. Their marriage lasted for 60 years, a rare occurrence these days.
Her sister, Elsa M. Sencabaugh and her brother Major John W. Anderson, USAF, have also been called to their eternal rest.
She leaves her sons John M. MacNeill of Cohasset and Robert W. and his wife Andrea of Hingham. Her grandchildren include John W. and his wife Kimberley of Watertown, MA,. Jordan C. of Cohasset, Robert N. and his wife Crystal of Lansing, KS, as well as Heather and Andrew both of Hingham. The great grandchildren are Alexander and Michael of Watertown, MA and Brianna of Lansing, KS.
Kerstin and Millard were founding members of the South Shore Art Center in Cohasset. She was a well known artist on the South Shore working in watercolor, chalk, pencil, oil and acrylics. She was equally proficient in pottery.
A Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, March 17th at 11 AM at the Second Congregational Church 43 Highland Ave., Cohasset, MA 02025 (Directions to the church may be found at http://www.2ndcc.org/).
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the South Shore Art Center, 119 Ripley Rd., Cohasset, MA 02025 or to the Second Congregational Church.
A private interment will be held at a later date.
