WORCESTER-Gladys T. (Chestnut) Gibbons, 97, formerly of 1050 Main Street died Wednesday, October 30th in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center. Her husband Thomas R. Gibbons died in 1973. She leaves 2 sons; Thomas R. Gibbons of Greenville, NY and William M. Gibbons of Worcester, a daughter MaryAnn Sauger of Worcester, 18 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren, a nephew and 2 nieces. Her brother Andrew Chestnut, 2 sisters Lillian Banks and Rhea Barrett, a granddaughter, and great-grandson predeceased her.
She was born in Thompsonville, CT the daughter of Andrew and Jennie (Leander) Chestnut. She was a member of St. Peter’s Church and it’s Woman’s Guild.
The funeral will be Saturday, November 2nd from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, November 1st from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
