George M. Leavens, Sr., 95, of Laurel Court, a retired engineer for Women & Infants Hospital, died Friday, March 9, 2007, at Hebert’s Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Hazel B. (Paine) Leavens.
Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Willard & Sarah (Duell) Leavens. He was the last survivor of seven siblings.
Mr. Leavens was a member of the Smithfield Memorial VFW Post #2929 and a WWII Army Veteran serving in Europe and Africa.
He is survived by a son George M. Leavens, Jr. of Worcester, a daughter Carol D. Steinert of Smithfield. Dear Grandfather of Jeffery J. Steinert of Smithfield, John F. Leavens of Millbury, MA and Pamela J. Leavens of Grafton, MA. Stepchildren Frederick and Richard Kingsley both of Florida, Hazel Turley of Jamestown, 12 stepgrandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Funeral service Monday at noon in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial with military honors in RI Veterans Cemtery. Please omit flowers.
