Obituary

On March 21, 1942, Rosetta Kelley Matthews was born to the late Deacon James and Rosie B. Kelley in Madison County. The Lord called Rosetta home to rest on Wednesday, March 7, 2007.

Rosetta accepted Christ as her personal savior during the 1960s and joined Union Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America, under the leadership of Reverend McKinley Jones, where she remained a member until her heath failed.

Rosetta graduated from William Hopper Council High School in 1960, where she was a cheerleader. She later attended J. F. Drake State Technical College, where she received her LPN Degree in Nursing. She worked as a nurse for over twenty-five years before retiring in 2004.

She leaves behind her husband, James L. Matthews; four sons: Andra (Chery), Jeff, Dennis (Tammy), and Shawn Matthews; one daughter, Latresha Matthews; one brother, James A. Kelley (Dorothy); two sisters: Roberta Robinson and Bernice Jordan; one aunt, Queen Ester Seay; fourteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; a special friend, Mattie Baker; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Matthews will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, 2007 at the Union Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America with Pastor McKinley Jones officiating. Interment will be held in Royal Cemetery – Madison. Mrs. Matthews will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time.
