Mable Isbell McDowell was the third child born to the late Harvey Isbell and Gussie Atkins Isbell on July 14, 1919, in Larkinsville, Alabama. She departed this life on Sunday, February 25, 2007 at Huntsville Hospital.
Mrs. McDowell accepted Christ at an early age and united with Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Woodville, Alabama. She was the widow of the late Alfred McDowell.
She later moved to Huntsville and united with First Missionary Baptist Church, where she has been a member for over 50 years. She has served on the Deaconess Board most of that time. She was very active in the Missionary Society, from it's inception under the leadership of Sister Frances Swoope. She was a member of Circle #2 until her health failed.
She leaves to cherish her memories two brothers: Robert Isbell (Bessie) of Detroit, Michigan and Bryant Isbell (Estelle) of Huntsville, Alabama; one sister, Josie Jackson of San Diego, California; two adopted God Daughters: Vera Miller and Laura Hayes of Huntsville, Alabama; two sisters-in-law: Lynda Isbell of Huntsville, Alabama and Queen Isbell of Detroit, Michigan; one special nephew/caregiver, Louis Elliott (Oneda) of Huntsville and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services for Mrs. McDowell were held Saturday, March 3, 2007 at 11:00 a.m.
First Missionary Baptist Church Blue Spring Road Huntsville, Alabama 35810 with Pastor Julius R. Scruggs officiating. Interment was held at the Northside Cemetery.
