NEW BEDFORD -- Grace Flavin Cunningham, age 88 years, formerly of South Dartmouth, died Thursday, March 8, 2007, at Hathaway Extended Care Facility after an extended illness. She was the wife of the late Allen H. Cunningham.
Born in North Attleboro, the daughter of the late Charles Leo and Ellen L. (Joyce) Flavin, she was a graduate of Attleboro High School and Framingham State College.
For twenty years, she was a home economics teacher at Roosevelt Junior High School in New Bedford, enjoyed traveling and sailing, and was a talented seamstress and knitter.
She is survived by her daughters, Christine Cormier of Seminole, Florida and Carolyn Nell of Glen Mills, Pennsylvania; her grandchildren, Kathryn Scott of St. Petersburg, Fla., Jennifer E. Elms of Springfield, Mo., Andrew Nell of Philadelphia, Pa., and Amy Nell of Gulfport, Fla.; and great grandchildren, River Keenan Elms, Charles Mac Scott and Allison Grace Scott.
Her funeral will take place on Saturday, March 10, 2007, at 8:30 a.m. in Grace Episcopal Church, 422 County St., at the corner of School St., New Bedford, followed by burial in South Dartmouth Cemetery. Visitation at the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., at the corner of Elm St., New Bedford, Friday from 4-7 p.m. Remembrances may be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
